Originally reviewed on my blog CLICK HEREI’ve heard some not-so-nice things about this one, but it’s the one that really got me into this series. Particularly when Isabel tells Clary that she needs to be more assertive in making Simon and Jace not argue and hate each other so much. Isabel, you are the best and I want to be best friends with you. Clary, stop being so weird about being friends with here. GOSH. I think what got me into this series was the part when Clary does stand up for herself against Valentine. And I know this is the novel when Jace gets all sulky and “WEH, BUT SHE’S MY SISTER.” I cried when he was talking to Maryse about family. Really.
